Port Muhammad Bin Qasim, commonly known as PQA and named after the great Muslim General Muhammad Bin Qasim is the deepest port of Pakistan. It currently caters for more than 40% of seaborne trade requirements of the country. The port is accessible through a 45 km long channel for vessels up to 11 meter draught and providing safe navigation of up to 75000 dwt class vessels. PQA in its quest for “Capacity Enhancement” of the Port has launched multi-faceted strategy which also includes augmentation of its fleet of Tugs and Pilot Boats. In pursuit of this objective, PQA in April 2012 signed a contract with SANMAR, Turkey for construction and supply of one 65 Tons BP ASD Shipping Tug.
