Dogançay series tugboats are based on a design by Robert Allan Ltd. of Vancouver, B.C., Canada, but adapted by the Sanmar team to meet the requirements of individual customers. Featuring high thrust nozzles equipped with high aspect double rudder flaps, the tugs have a high bow and stem.

Designed for ship handling purposes, the tugs are also equipped with a remotely operated towing winch and tow pins for heavy towing purposes. Highly versatile, they are, for example, equally suitable for providing ship docking services and emergency deep sea towage in the Mediterranean and Black Seas. Furthermore, with remote operation from the wheelhouse of many items of equipement, a three men crew is sufficient for operation in coastal waters.
