The“Sanmar Terminal” series tugboats are RAstar 2800 design, developed by Robert Allan Ltd., Canada.
The “Sanmar Terminal” series tugboatsare suitable for a wide range of duties including harbour towage, coastal towing, terminal support, escort service, and ship-handling.
Main Propulsion comprises a pair of CAT 3516B HD diesel engines; each rated 1,864 kW at 1,600 rpm. Each engine drives a Rolls-Royce model US 205 CP azimuthing drive unit, turning a 2400 mm, 4-bladed CP propeller. Main Engines are Caterpillar 3516B, delivering 1864 kWatt each, and driving Rolls Royce US 205 CP thrusters via direct shaft. Engines are resilient mounted.
The towing winches are supplied by Rolls-Royce, with the forward one having the escort capability to haul in 50 tons and render at 80 tons. Both winches are driven by the hydraulic pumps driven by the front end PTO of Generator Diesels.
The main deck features two officer cabins, with a shared en-suite lavatory, and a spacious crew mess/lounge, served by a fully equipped, steel bulkhead separated modern galley with fully Stainless Steel Linings and Outfitting.
The tug is equipped with a full Fi-Fi 1 capacity supplied by FFS, with two main-engine driven pumps providing 2 x 1400 cu.m/hour of water to a pair of water/foam monitors, each with an output capacity of 1200 cu.m /hour, as well as to a fire-protection deluge system.
The vessel is equipped with automation and instrumentation for normal duty operations with a crew of two, and a periodically unattended engine room.
