This specification describes a twin Z-drive, diesel powered tug designed for maximum efficiency in the performance of ship-handling duties for sea going ships. The hull form and layout have evolved over several years through the extensive experience of the designers at Robert Allan Ltd. working with tug owning Clients and their crews in developing truly high performance tugs for this challenging service.
The RAmparts 2200 named as “Sırapınar” is based on an intended low-manning operation with a high standard of machinery automation but the accommodations can be adjusted to match almost any reasonable requirement. The layout shown has been developed to match the most commonly acceptable manning standards. Optional layouts are available as either basic «day boat» or with full accommodation for a crew of up to five persons.
Sırapınar class ASD tugs meet the requirements of the under 24m rule. These models, all Robert Allan Limited designs, build on the phenomenal success of the builder’s 60 to 75 tons bollard pull Boğacay series of which 19 have now been constructed. Sırapınar is closest to the Boğaçay but with a 2m decrease in length and 0.4m in beam. This will ensure this smaller sister to provide same performance with less bollard pull by using Caterpillar engines coupled to Schottel Z-drives. Depending on the propulsion system size selected by the customer, the vessel will be able to give up to 60 tons bollard pull.
Robert Allan Ltd. have extensive experience in the custom design of high performance ASD tugs to match Clients’ specific operational requirements. Vessels to these designs have been widely acclaimed for their overall design and particularly their maneuvering, seakeeping and stability performance.
