The RAmparts Class tugs are twin Z-drive, diesel-powered tugs designed for maximum efficiency in the performance of ship-handling duties for tankers, bulk carriers and container ships in particular. The hull form and layout have evolved over several years through the extensive experience of the designers, Robert Allan Ltd., working with their tug-owning Clients and their crews in developing tugs for this challenging service.

The RAmparts Class tugs are of robust, all-welded steel construction, with scantlings in excess of the minimums of any Classification Society.

Although the basic designs are intended as dedicated assist tugs, working off a forward winch, design options can be readily included to outfit the tugs for any of the following services:

  • Fire-fighting
  • Aft towing
