Sanmar has delivered one of its best-selling Boğaçay Class tugboats to a new customer in Bulgaria. Known as BOĞAÇAY LXXXI while under construction in Turkiye, the tug has been renamed MARS by its new owner Port Flot Burgas.
The Bulgarian company offers a range of maritime services including harbour towage, coastal towage, salvage work, mooring and un-mooring, tanker stand-by and both offshore and deep-sea operations.
The Port of Burgas, where the new tug will be operating is the second largest port in Bulgaria, and Burgas is the fourth-largest city in the country, and an important industrial, transport, cultural and tourist centre.
MARS is based on the exclusive-to-Sanmar RAmparts 2400SX-MK II design from Canadian naval architects Robert Allan Ltd with an emphasis on optimal efficiency in ship-handling duties for sea-going ships.
A twin Z-drive, diesel-powered vessel, it measures 24.4m overall, with a 12m beam, least moulded depth of 4.5m and a navigational draft of approximately 5.45m. With a bollard pull of 70 tons, its two main engines meet stringent IMO Tier III emission standards, and advanced machinery automation furthers its green credentials by optimising efficiency.
The tug can accommodate a crew of up to six people with a high standard of comfort throughout. Fuel capacities include 77,900 litres of fuel oil, 11,500 litres of potable water and a 7,700-litre foam tank.
Rüçhan Çıvgın, Commercial Director of Sanmar Shipyards, said:
“MARS is a technologically-advanced, multi-purpose tug that meets the strictest of environmental standards, while providing unrivalled performance, versatility, and efficiency.
I am always delighted to welcome a new customer and am proud to be able to supply this state-of-the-art tug to enable their business to develop and thrive in a changing world. I am confident that the close co-operation and understanding that we have built with Port Flot Burgas will mean that this new partnership will continue to flourish.”
